Our essence
Since 2017, Umbral has been transforming the way tourism is experienced in Portugal. Based in Albufeira, we started with just one property and, thanks to our commitment, we now have more than 400 spread across the Algarve, Alentejo and Fátima.
Our "Stay Local" philosophy reflects our commitment to offering quality at a fair price, believing that happiness is shared and that the best memories begin with the right experience.

IDENTITY
What does UMBRAL mean?
The name Threshold was chosen with intention.
At first glance, "umbral" comes from Spanish and means door sill - the threshold between outside and inside. This concept is deeply linked to architecture, design and the way spaces shape the experience of those who pass through them.
In ThresholdWe believe that each project is more than just a space: it is a transition. We create environments that mark the transition from the outside world to something more intimate, functional and meaningful. When you cross that threshold, we want you to feel like you've entered a space designed just for you.
We know that the term can have other, more esoteric interpretations, But for us, Umbral is about positive transformation. It's a turning point where people - just like the spaces we design - can evolve, grow and get closer to their best version.
